Meet the Maker
Nury is from Chile and a grandmother of 3 beautiful children. When one of her granddaughters was suffering from a bad case of eczema and dermatitis at age four, she wanted desperately to help her. Nury's family was tired of trying all the prescribed lotions and soaps for her granddaughter's condition that were full of chemicals. The condition always came back. That is when Nury, who has great talent for creating anything from hairstyles, new recipes, visual arts projects, ceramics and sewing, came up with the bright idea of creating a unique soap that could help her.
Nury's first soap was made with "Rosa Mosqueta" (Rosehip), which is an oil that is harvested from the seeds of rose bushes predominantly grown in Chile. Rosehip is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are known to help correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all while helping to reduce scars and fine lines. This soap largely helped her granddaughter's condition and four years later, it is the only soap that she uses.
Being a great creator that she is, Nury started to experiment making soaps with other oils based on organic plants both locally grown in Southwest Florida as well as imported from Central & South America and Europe. She now offers a variety of handcrafted soaps at local farm markets and is exclusive supplier to businesses in Southwest Florida.
We know your experience with Naturalis Handcrafted Soaps will be superior to anything you've ever tried before..as mother nature intended.
Why do we use Sea Sponges?
By embedding natural sea sponges - as extracted from Gulf of Mexico in SW Florida - in the core of our soaps, we are a providing a multi-functional experience. Not only does the sponge act as an exfoliating agent but also helps with cleansing your skin. Sponges help create a luxurious lather, are softly textured, and are suitable for the most sensitive skin types
What Is A Sea Sponge?
A sea sponge is a simple multi-cellular living organism that grows on the ocean’s floors all around the world. Sea sponges come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. They have a hard outer shell and a soft porous inside. This inner squishy and highly absorbent inner portion of the sea sponge is incredibly durable and an efficient tool for dozens of different tasks.
Why Are Natural Sea Sponges Better Than Synthetic Sponges?
When synthetic sponges are made, they are injected with triclosan, which is classified as a pesticide that fights bacteria. In addition, cotton products are processed with chlorine and other chemicals to ensure they are clean. Unfortunately, these chemicals have been linked to a variety of problems, from skin rashes to cancer. Not to mention all the waste and the toxins that are emitted back into the environment during the processing of synthetic sponges and as they break down from use.
Natural sea sponge contain innate enzymes and minerals that help prevent the development of odors, molds, and bacteria. They are also hypoallergenic because they are always naturally processed and contain no artificial ingredients, harsh chemicals, or toxins of any kind. As a result they are softer, more absorbent, lather extremely well, and are not known to cause skin irritation. Additionally, they generally last much longer than synthetic sponges, along with being fully biodegradable, and are actually good for the environment since they are sustainably harvested so that they remain a renewable resource.
Are Sea Sponges Earth-Friendly?
Yes! Sea sponges are extremely earth-friendly. Natural sea sponges are truly 100% natural from their unhampered-with cellular structure, to their naturally occurring sea minerals, to their eco-processing. They’re fully biodegradable. And sea sponges are also earth-friendly, because of their sustainable harvesting with minimal waste which has actually been shown to promote the growth of sponge colonies and enhance the ocean’s ecosystem.
